Quotes and orders

How quotes and orders work

Last updated: September 2026

These terms apply to quotes, orders and installations supplied by Opal Blinds and Curtains (ABN 55 697 735 309). By accepting a quote you agree to these terms, together with any specific terms recorded in that quote.

Where these general terms and your written quote differ, the terms recorded in your written quote apply. Your quote sets out the products, fabrics, controls, price, payment terms and warranty applicable to your order.

Quotes

  • Quotes are provided free of charge and without obligation following an in-home measure.
  • A quote is based on the measurements taken and the products, fabrics and controls selected at the time.
  • Quotes are valid for the period stated on the quote. After that, pricing may need to be reconfirmed as supplier costs change.
  • Changing products, fabrics, sizes or controls after quoting may change the price.

Orders and custom manufacture

  • An order is confirmed when you accept the quote and any deposit specified in it has been paid.
  • Products are custom-manufactured to your measurements and selections. They are made for your windows specifically and cannot be resold.
  • Because manufacture begins on confirmation, changes or cancellations may not be possible once production has started, and costs already incurred may be payable.
  • Lead times are estimates confirmed at the time of order and can be affected by supplier and manufacturing schedules.

Measuring, installation and payment

Your order in practice

Measurements

  • We measure the openings ourselves for any product we install, and products are manufactured to those measurements.
  • Where you supply measurements against our advice, responsibility for fit rests with you.
  • Small variations in openings, wall alignment and squareness are normal, particularly in older homes. Light gaps around the edges of blinds and shutters are a characteristic of the products rather than a defect.

Site access and installation

  • You agree to provide safe and reasonable access to the installation areas at the agreed time.
  • Windows should be accessible, with furniture and belongings moved clear where practical.
  • Installation involves drilling into walls, ceilings, frames or reveals. We take care, but we cannot be responsible for concealed services or pre-existing defects that are not reasonably visible.
  • If we attend at an agreed time and cannot gain access, a further attendance may be chargeable.

Payment

  • Deposit and payment terms are set out in your written quote.
  • Unless your quote says otherwise, the balance is payable on completion of installation.
  • Title in the goods remains with us until payment is received in full. Risk passes to you on installation.

Variations

Additional work requested after the quote is accepted, or work arising from conditions that could not reasonably be identified at measure, may be quoted separately before it is carried out.

Your rights and ours

Consumer guarantees, warranty and liability

Consumer guarantees

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

Warranty

Warranty support is available across our product range. The warranty period and terms vary by the range selected and are confirmed in your written quote. See our Care and Warranty page for how warranties work and how to make a claim.

Change of mind

Because products are custom-made to your measurements and selections, we are not able to offer refunds or exchanges for change of mind. This does not affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

Liability

To the extent permitted by law, and subject to the consumer guarantees above, our liability for any claim is limited to repairing or replacing the goods, or supplying equivalent goods, at our option. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss to the extent the law allows us to limit it.

Child safety

Corded internal window coverings are installed in accordance with the applicable Australian mandatory standard. It is important that cleats, tensioners and warning labels are not removed after installation. See our Child Safety page.

Privacy

Personal information provided in connection with a quote or order is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.
